As women take their careers to the next level and carve out new paths to achieve success, it’s crucial that they have role models to look up to and learn from on the path to leadership. This has been especially important over the past year, as many consider that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted working women far more so than their male counterparts. So, perhaps more than ever before, women truly need effective mentors and networks to help them navigate the changing work environment, and support their progress.

Amid rising inflation concerns and shifting monetary policy expectations, 10-year government bonds experienced another sell-off in October, with only Sweden’s benchmark note bucking the trend.

In our last blog post, we detailed how we estimate market-wide portfolio trading volumes, and how those volumes have grown as a proportion of TRACE over time. It follows then that portfolio trading must be getting something right, and so the topic we’ll tackle today is execution quality, a theme that comes up time and again in conversations with our clients.

Tradeweb Credit is breaking records in 2021, especially in electronic RFQ. Whether it’s total volumes, total number of firms, or total number of individual users engaging on the platform, we continue to outperform last year’s milestones. So far, we’ve seen investment grade volumes rise nearly 65% and high-yield volumes rise over 160% in comparison to 2020. In June, we had a single day record market share where Tradeweb accounted for over 30% of IG TRACE. There are more reasons now than ever to think of Tradeweb when you consider your next RFQ trade.

There are (surely) more obviously thrilling ways to celebrate a new year, but in many ways, the market transition from LIBOR to SOFR on December 31 made for a satisfying countdown into 2022. With LIBOR now discontinued for Sterling, Swiss Franc and Japanese Yen markets, many of the largest swaps markets in the world are now using new risk-free rates.

It is officially the end of the line for LIBOR. After some 30+ years as “the world’s most important number,” and the last six years on an extended farewell tour, the London Interbank Offered Rate will officially be retired as a benchmark for U.S. dollar swaps transactions. CME Group completed its conversion to the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) as the standard benchmark reference for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives trades in April and LCH will complete its conversion containing U.S. dollar LIBOR vs. fixed interest rate swaps on May 20. By June, roughly $60 trillion in U.S. dollar contracts will be secured to SOFR.
